1 Seeds:
Auburn, Houston, Florida, Tennessee
2 Seeds:
Duke, Purdue, Alabama, St. Johns
All right, this is the first article I’m writing. Ever. It was supposed to be easy. Then Auburn and Duke lost. Am I biased in dropping Duke to a 2 line? Probably, but the ACC is severely underperforming while the SEC has too many contenders to count. Nothing pains me more than having 3 SEC teams in the top 4, but until they’re proven otherwise, they stay there. Houston is the only team I can currently see competing with the SEC. My one hot take here is I believe Pitino and St John’s will not lose another game before tourney season.
3 Seeds:
Texas Tech, Kansas, Illinois, Texas A&M
4 Seeds:
Arizona, Mich State, Wisconsin, Iowa St
Now back to some more chaos. Kansas lost a terrible game while both Texas teams were uninspiring in the past week. Out of this grouping, the Big Ten reigns supreme. I hate putting Arizona higher than Wisconsin, but they keep winning in a tough conference. As an aside, I’ll give my full opinion on Wisconsin on Wednesday.
5 Seeds:
Maryland, Gonzaga, Louisville, Kentucky
6 Seeds:
Michigan, Ole Miss, Marquette, Clemson
All right. I hate every team in this grouping, I’m not going to lie. Maryland is a home king and that’s it. This is one of the worst Gonzaga teams in the past decade. Kentucky keeps losing winnable games. Marquette, Michigan, and Ole Miss keep losing statement games. Louisville is very entertaining and I’m a fan (but I have to be negative because they paid Chucky more than Wisco did.)
PS – Clemson is quite good. Just check diddukewin.com
7 Seeds:
Mizzou, UCLA, St Marys, Baylor
8 Seeds:
Uconn, Ohio St, Creighton, Memphis
Here’s where we get into a bunch of teams that keep having 1-1 weeks. I honestly don’t have a lot to say. I like Memphis. And every other team is mid. Creighton and Memphis deserve to be higher rated, but unfortunately, they aren’t in the Big Ten or SEC.
9 Seeds:
VCU, Miss St, Utah State, Oregon
10 Seeds:
Vanderbilt, Texas, New Mexico, West Virginia
The Mountain West is way underrated this year. They’ll populate the 9+ seeds and win more than the ACC. Vandy is building something special while Texas is deteriorating. VCU and Oregon are way more talented than their record, we’ll see what comes of it.
11 Seeds:
Nebraska, West Virginia, Georgia, Wake Forest, BYU, SMU
Georgia and Wake Forest are bad teams. SMU and BYU are benefiting from a weak schedule. I lowkey like Nebraska. And half of these 6 teams will probably not make the madness.
12 Seeds:
UC San Diego, Drake, Yale, McNeese
13 Seeds:
GCU, Akron, Arkansas St, Liberty
14 Seeds:
High Point, Lipscomb, South Dakota, Samford
15 Seeds:
UNCW, Milwaukee, Bryant, Central Conn St
16 Seeds:
Montana, Merrimack, Norfolk St, Little Rock, Southern U, American
Nothing crazy here; mostly favorites to win or top teams in the NET. UC San Diego should be higher than a 12 seed. (This is where I yell to the masses to bet on either UC San Diego or UC Irvine to win the 12-5 game.)
First 4 out:
UC Irvine, North Carolina, Pitt, San Diego St
UC Irvine should be a 10 seed, but that’s not how the NCAA works, North Carolina sucks, Pitt is mid, and San Diego St can’t get out of their own way.
